From the recording It's a Very Good Life

Lyrics

Paper Bridges
by Dianne Bochsler

High tides may cover the castles you built
The creek where you swam is long gone
But It’s Sticks and Stones and Strawberry Roans
Papa would sing us that song

Quilts made of cotton and old worn out coats
Who’s stitches have now lost their hold
Strong cedar boxes with letters inside
With tales of great love in the fold

CH We hold on tight with all of our might
To stories and treasures we’ve known
While ‘round the bend it’s coming again
The time when we must let them go

Rocks we sent skipping , kites that we chased
Have all gone the way of the wind
Arms we see lifting us high overhead
In pictures, now faded and dimmed

Roads we once traveled, trees we once climbed
Reach back to things we’ve outgrown
We build paper bridges in hopes they will last
And one day will lead us back home

CH So I’ll hold you close and raise up a toast
We’ll measure the world with a sigh
While ‘round the bend it’s coming again
The time when we must say goodbye
The time when we must say goodbye
